Study Abroad

In order to give students first-hand experience with the art, architecture, and cultures studied in the classroom, the Visual Arts Department offers a number of study abroad opportunities every year. Each program follows a prepared course of study to make most effective use of students' time while abroad. To satisfy university requirements, students receive credit for coursework developed by faculty advisors specifically for study abroad students. These courses diverge from the usual classroom routines by giving students unique opportunities to engage personally with the artworks being studied and with the cultural environments which produced them. When studying the visual arts, no experience can substitute for seeing such inspired and inspiring work in person.
